In a major step to boost educational access and operational efficiency, MTN Mobile Money (MTN MoMo) Uganda has handed over the first school van under its innovative “Win School Fees with MoMo” campaign.
The handover ceremony, held at Lucky Kids Academy, underscores MTN MoMo’s commitment to supporting schools, parents, and guardians through digital financial solutions.
The campaign encourages parents to pay school fees digitally via MTN MoMo while incentivizing schools to adopt digital collection systems.
Schools that participate stand to win tangible rewards, including vans like the one donated to Lucky Kids Academy, which will be used for co-curricular activities, school trips, and other programs.
Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer at MTN MoMo Uganda, highlighted the vision behind the initiative.
“Education is the bedrock of our communities’ future. This school van is a practical testament to our belief in investing in education and delivering tangible benefits that will resonate across the learners’ journey and the wider school community,” she said.
Parents can conveniently pay fees through the MoMo App or USSD code 16580#. The platform also offers MoMo School Fees Loans for times when immediate financial support is needed.
Every payment via MoMo enters customers into a draw for a full year of school fees, while participating schools can win valuable assets such as school vans.
Lucky Kids Academy Principal Nandawula Fatumah Batenda expressed gratitude, emphasizing the van’s impact.
“This van will be instrumental in supporting our students, particularly during co-curricular activities and other vital school programs. We deeply appreciate MTN MoMo’s recognition of schools that are embracing digital payments,” she said.
MTN MoMo’s School Fees solution streamlines fee collection, reduces cash handling, and provides transparent, efficient reconciliation for schools, while empowering parents with convenient digital payment and loan options.
The first van handover sets the tone for the nationwide campaign, which promises ongoing rewards for both schools and parents.
MTN MoMo continues to champion educational empowerment through its broad network, which includes over 14.7 million active users, 241,000 MoMo agents, and presence across all 134 districts of Uganda.
Parents and schools are encouraged to leverage the MoMo App or USSD code 16580# to participate in the initiative and benefit from future rewards.
